The nation’s first Underground Space Science Museum is now open to the public for free!!!
The “Underground Space Science Museum,” initiated by the Underground Space Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Urban Studies and the Jiangsu Society for Underground Space, was jointly established by Nanjing Tech University, JSTI Group Co., Ltd., Suzhou Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Municipal Engineering Research Institute, the First Geological Team of the Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, the Singapore Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geology, and other organizations. Located on the 3rd floor of Jiangdao Science and Innovation Center at No. 1 Xiankun Road, Jiangxinzhou, Jianye District, Nanjing, it officially opened to the public on July 28, 2024!
Venue Features
The Underground Space Science Museum is China’s first comprehensive science museum dedicated to underground space. It showcases a wide range of popular science content, including the historical development of underground spaces worldwide, typical case studies, resource exploration and utilization, construction and maintenance, as well as future trends and prospects.
Its aim is to popularize knowledge about underground spaces, enhance public awareness of this field, and highlight domestic and international achievements in underground space development. By fostering an underground space industry cluster, it seeks to drive the growth of emerging industries and economic development in areas such as digital innovation, ecological technology, and low-carbon intelligence.


The Science Museum is located on the third floor of Jiangdao Science and Innovation Center on Jiangxinzhou, Jianye District, Nanjing. The first phase covers a total area of approximately 500 square meters. The operational team consists of 10 members, capable of providing customized thematic services based on the content of science education activities.
Currently, the science museum operates on a reservation-only basis for visits. The public can make reservations through official channels. Visits are primarily conducted in small, high-quality groups, with a maximum of 30 attendees per session (including accompanying adults) to ensure the quality of the educational activities.
