On January 20, 2024, the Underground Space Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Urban Studies successfully convened an evaluation meeting for the scientific and technological achievement titled “Intelligent Sensing of Surrounding Rock Quality and Structural Safety Control Technology and Application for Water-rich Fault Tunnels” in Nanjing.

The evaluation committee comprised the following experts: Zhu Hehua, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Distinguished Professor at Tongji University; Cheng Hua, Professor at Anhui University; Wang Shengtao, Deputy Chief Engineer and Professor-level Senior Engineer of China Railway Fourth Bureau Group Co., Ltd.; Huang Xingchun, Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Tang Chaosheng, Professor at Nanjing University; Pang Jianyong, Professor at Anhui University of Science and Technology; and Chen Changjiang, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Urban Transportation Design Institute and Professor-level Senior Engineer at China Railway Sixth Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. The meeting was chaired by Zhao Guang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Underground Space Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Urban Studies.

 

 

The meeting reviewed the report on the scientific and technological achievements presented by the lead unit, Anhui Road and Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd. The expert evaluation committee examined the relevant materials and, after inquiries and discussions, concluded that the achievements have made significant innovations. These include the development of multi-scale testing technology for the hydrodynamic disaster characteristics of surrounding rock in water-rich fault tunnels, the creation of a hydro-mechanical coupled physical model testing system for water-rich faults, and the establishment of a continuous-discontinuous coupled numerical simulation method. Additionally, an intelligent sensing device for the quality of surrounding rock in water-rich fault tunnels was developed, along with automatic data collection and analysis technology for surrounding rock quality and water-rich conditions, forming a comprehensive evaluation system for the perception of water-rich surrounding rock quality. Furthermore, new materials for rapid grouting repair and reinforcement of fractures in water-rich surrounding rock were developed, alongside micro-pile technology for tunnel bottoms and yielding support structure safety control technology. A safety control method for deformation and structural damage in water-rich fault tunnels was also proposed. In summary, the research achievements of the project have reached an internationally advanced level. Among these, the monitoring and prevention technology for surrounding rock in water-rich fault tunnels, as well as the intelligent sensing devices and technology for surrounding rock quality, have achieved international leading standards.
