Recently, the National Key Research and Development Program’s “Intergovernmental International Scientific and Technological Innovation Cooperation” key special project, titled “Mechanism of Structural Performance Evolution and Collaborative Maintenance Technology for Shield Tunnels in Service,” was successfully approved. The project was submitted by Beijing Jiaotong University, with participation from five domestic and international partners, including JSTI Group Co., Ltd., the Chinese Society for Urban Studies, and Japan’s Chuo Fukken Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd.
Led by Fang Qian, Deputy Secretary-General of the Professional Committee, the project will fully leverage China’s scientific research strengths while drawing on Japan’s advanced experience and technology. The research will focus on the safety control of structural performance during the service life of shield tunnels, address pathological issues in shield tunnels during their service period, and provide a theoretical foundation and guiding principles for technological innovation.
